Israeli Ambassador Reuven Azar said Tel Aviv and New Delhi remain “united" in their response to terrorism, noting that Israel was the first country to identify the Red Fort explosion in Delhi as a terror attack. In an exclusive conversation with CNN-News18, Reuven Azar said the November 10 blast had reinforced the need for closer security cooperation between the two countries.

“Israel and India cooperate to acquire the capabilities required in the fight against terror. Only a few days ago, we upgraded that cooperation through the signing of a new agreement during the visit of the Defence Secretary to Israel. Our countries trust each other and will continue to work together to face this challenge," he said.

On Israel’s position on the attack, the ambassador expressed strong solidarity, saying, “Israel sends its deepest condolences to the people of India and especially to the families of the innocent victims killed in the terror attack in Red Fort. We wish speedy recovery to the wounded. Prime Minister Netanyahu and Foreign Minister Sa’ar have published strong statements in that regard."

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu earlier posted a message to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying terror “may strike our cities, but will never shake our souls," and calling India and Israel “ancient civilisations" bound by a shared fight against extremism.

“The light of our nations will outshine the darkness of our enemies," he wrote.

Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar also conveyed condolences, saying he extended Israel’s “deepest sympathies" to the families of those killed and wished “speedy recovery to the wounded," adding that Israel “stands with India in its fight against terror."

Delhi Red Fort Blast

Thirteen people were killed in the Red Fort blast after a Hyundai i20 packed with a mix of high-grade explosive materials and ammonium nitrate fuel oil detonated near the Red Fort Metro station. Investigators said the explosion was likely triggered prematurely by one of the attackers, Dr Umar Mohammed alias Umar un-Nabi, a Kashmiri doctor working at Al Falah University in Faridabad. DNA tests have confirmed that he died in the blast.

The car exploded at a traffic signal close to the metro station, killing 13 and injuring more than 20. The incident came hours after agencies recovered nearly 2,900 kg of explosive material, mostly ammonium nitrate, during raids in Faridabad. Two doctors- Muzammil Sheikh and Shaheen Saeed- were arrested, both suspected to be part of a newly formed Jaish-e-Mohammed module made up of highly educated professionals.

Investigators believe the group was planning a large-scale terror strike across the Capital Region and the explosives and weapons recovered were meant for multiple coordinated attacks.
