As fighting intensifies in West Asia, the United States has stepped up direct military action against Iranian assets, striking aircraft and drone storage facilities. US Central Command on Monday released footage of the operation, describing it as decisive action aimed at neutralising what it called “imminent threats" from the Islamic Republic.
“U.S. forces are taking bold action to eliminate imminent threats posed by the Iranian regime. Strikes continue," US Central Command wrote in a post on X.
The videos appear to show drones and military aircraft being destroyed inside hangars at an Iranian site.
West Asia Conflict Widens
The strikes form part of a broader, coordinated campaign by the US and Israel following months of failed diplomacy and rising tensions. Major Iranian cities, including Tehran and Isfahan, have suffered significant damage in the bombardment. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, along with his daughter, grandchild, daughter-in-law, and son-in-law, was killed in the attacks, a development that has dramatically escalated the crisis and prompted vows of retaliation from Tehran.
In response, Iran has launched strikes against US allies in the region, including the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, signalling its readiness to expand the confrontation. The fallout has rattled global markets and disrupted vital transport corridors in a region that holds more than half of the world’s proven oil reserves. Dubai Airport has suspended operations, and airspace restrictions now span multiple Gulf nations, compounding travel and trade disruptions.
New Delhi is closely monitoring developments, mindful that roughly 9 million Indian citizens live and work across the Middle East. India’s Cabinet Committee on Security has instructed ministries to mobilise all necessary resources to safeguard nationals abroad. While contingency evacuation plans are being prepared, Indian officials continue to call for restraint and a return to dialogue.
