Stock Market Highlights: Sensex rose 1,023 points to close at 85,610, while the Nifty 50 ended 321 points higher at 26,205, with both benchmarks inching close to their record highs. The Nifty Bank outperformed, hitting a fresh record as it climbed 708 points to 59,528. The broader markets saw an equally sharp move, with the Midcap index rising 764 points to 61,062 and more than 90 stocks in the Nifty Midcap 100 finishing in the green. 45 Nifty stocks ended higher and five touched their 52-week highs.
Stock Market Highlights: The market staged a strong rally on Wednesday, logging broad-based gains across sectors. All sectoral indices closed in positive territory, led by metals, which topped the charts amid expectations of a safeguard duty, sending names like JSW Steel up nearly 4%. Heavyweights such as Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Larsen & Toubro, Axis Bank, Infosys and TCS were among the biggest contributors to the Nifty’s gains.
Bharti Airtel was the top Nifty laggard, slipping nearly 2% after a block deal involving 0.6% equity. Adani Enterprises and Eicher Motors also failed to hold on to intraday gains and ended lower. Ashok Leyland rose around 2% after NDL Ventures’ board approved the merger of Hinduja Leyland Finance.
