Shiekh Haisna Verdict News Today LIVE: The Crimes Tribunal is scheduled to deliver a landmark verdict today in the case accusing ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina and two senior aides of committing crimes against humanity during the July 2024 uprising.
The son and adviser of ousted Bangladesh PM Sajeeb Wazed claimed that the ruling could see Hasina and former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal sentenced to death.
The tribunal, originally set up under Hasina’s own government, will deliver its judgment in the high-profile case that also lists former inspector general of police Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun as a co-accused.
Hasina, 78, has ignored court orders to return from India to face charges relating to the deadly 2024 crackdown.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Hasina addressed her supporters virtually, denouncing the proceedings against her as “entirely illegal”. She alleged that Interim PM Muhammad Yunus and those aligned with him had orchestrated a plan to “punish” her through a process that she claimed violated all legal norms.
