Sensex Today | Stock Market LIVE Updates: Benchmark indices Nifty 50 and Sensex opened today's trade session higher. Nifty opened at 25,441.05, while Sensex opened at 83,108.92. Cohane Life shares declined 6% post block deal, Hindalco shares were down as well after reporting a fire incident at its Novelis plant in New York.
Sensex Today | Stock Market LIVE Updates: Nifty 50 opened today's trade session 836.3 points away from its record high of 26,277.35.
The index has crossed the July congestion zone of 25,250 and moved further higher in mid-week trading, and now looks at crossing 25,500.
Nifty Bank continues to trade with gains for the 12th consecutive session and is up nearly 250 points at the moment, while Sensex remains above 83,000.
Infosys, HDFC Bank, Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank, HUL are the top contributors towards Nifty 50's upside around 9.50 am.
IT stocks Wipro, Infosys, HCLTech are the top Nifty 50 gainers. A total of 30 of the 50 stocks are trading with gains.
On expected lines, the US Fed cut rates by 25 basis points overnight. Tech heavyweights sold off on Wall Street overnight after the policy decision.
Today is also the weekly expiry of the BSE contracts.
Cohance Lifesciences shares declined 6% post block deals, SEPC shares gained 10% after winning an order, Hindustan Industries share were down after reporting of a fire incident at its Novelis plant in New York.
