The Nifty Bank index rebounded 323 points to 57,877, and the Midcap index climbed 375 points to 59,843. Financial stocks led the recovery, with the Nifty Bank index gaining 2% from the day’s low. Shriram Finance was the top Nifty gainer, tracking reports related to a possible deal with MUFG. Bajaj Finance advanced nearly 3% ahead of its earnings announcement on Monday.
Mahindra & Mahindra rose 2% as brokerages turned positive on the stock following its second-quarter results. Insurance shares also gained on strong Q2 performances, with SBI Life and LIC rising 2–3%. Vodafone Idea ended 4% higher ahead of its results due Monday.
