Sensex Today | Stock Market Live Updates: It is past noon at Dalall Street in the Sensex expiry session, the markets are moving with caution as the bulls hope to maintain gains for the week. The Nifty is near the 22,700 mark with marginal gains of around 50 points. The Nifty Bank is also largely muted with a positive bias.Powergrid, BSE and TCS are the top gainers.
Sensex Today | Stock Market Live Updates: At the half way mark, the indices are shining, and holding on the gains. The markets have pushed past caution as the bulls look to navigate and retain gains for the week. The Nifty is above the 22,700 mark, with gains of over 150 points. The Sensex is up over 600 points, rising to 73,800 mark.
For the last five sessions, the Nifty has been attempting to cross and sustain above 22,800, but has failed to do so. Today is also the monthly expiry of the Sensex contracts.
The Nifty Bank, after slipping below 54,000, managed to stage a recovery and close above that mark. 54,500 on the upside remains the key level to cross, while Wednesday's low of 53,626 is something bulls would not want to re-test.
For the Nifty, the 22,500 zone is turning out to be an important support on the downside, but any move towards 22,800 continues to see supply pressure as well as the index failed to cross Tuesday's high on Wednesday.
Another earnings heavy day beckons. Trent, Asian Paints, Coal India, IndiGo among the Nifty names report.
