Sensex Today | Stock Market LIVE Updates: Tuesday's high on the Nifty, 23,656, was exactly a 700-point rebound from Monday's low of 22,955. Although the index ended around 100-points off those levels, the bulls would aim to extend those gains going into mid-week trading. There is no directional handover from Wall Street.
Indices there remain cautious ahead of the Fed decision later tonight. Oil prices too, remain at elevated levels. The challenge is the sharp surge in the India crude basket, which made a record high of $142.
Tuesday's high becomes the first level on the upside to watch for the Nifty, followed by the 61.8% retracement of the entire rally, which is 23,694. For the Nifty Bank, 55,000 continues to remain the first hurdle. Although the markets are moving higher, they are extremely volatile with sharp swings seen on either side.
The VIX closed below 20 but remains a key monitorable. Keep an eye on Swan Defence, Aurobindo and Strides Pharma, Urban Company, Maruti, Varun Beverages among others.
