Sensex Today | Stock Market LIVE Updates: Benchmark indices ended lower, breaking a three-day gaining streak, with the Sensex dropping 504 points to close at 83,314 and the Nifty falling 133 points to 25,643—both down over 0.5%.
Of the 30 Nifty constituents, all but a few closed in the red, with top losers including Hindalco, Eternal, Bharti Airtel, BEL, and SBI Life. Market breadth favoured declines, as the NSE advance-decline ratio stood at 1:2.
Nifty Bank shed 175 points to 60,064, while the Midcap index lost 167 points to end at 59,517.
IT stocks extended losses, with Mphasis, Infosys, and Coforge each falling more than 1% amid broader sector weakness. Metals faced pressure too, as Hindustan Zinc tumbled 5% following an 11% drop in silver prices.
Trent led Nifty gainers, rising 3% after posting Q3 results that boosted investor sentiment.
Page Industries climbed nearly 4% post its Q3 earnings release, while IOC gained almost 2% on a 59% quarter-on-quarter jump in Q3 net profit. Cummins India surged 5%, driven by strong growth outlook in its data centre business.
In the midcap space, PB Fintech emerged as the top gainer, jumping 8% after the firm cancelled a board meeting to consider a Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP). Conversely, Tube Investments was the biggest loser, plunging 10% following its Q3 results.
