The Nifty though, is looking to break free from a one day up, another day down pattern as promising upmoves are not being met with follow-up buying as was the case on Wednesday. The index still remains above key levels and the 22,550 - 22,500 zone, will be an important support to watch on the downside.
Reactions today though are likely to be stock specific, and plenty of them at that. Reliance Industries on the announcement of the Jio Platforms IPO price band, CSB Bank and IDBI Bank on the latter's disinvestment announcement, and earnings reactions from names like HDB Financial, MRPL, CEAT, Tata Technologies, Bajaj Consumer and others. As many as 25 important results will be reported today, including Jio Financial Services, Polycab, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, HDFC AMC, IRFC, L&T Finance, Nestle India among others.
On the upside, the 22,750 - 22,800 zone will be a key hurdle and a sustained move above that could take the Nifty back to the 23,000 mark. The Nifty Bank remains in the 54,500 - 55,500-55,700 range.
