Sensex Today | Stock Market LIVE Updates: Dalal Street has broken the shackles of the last week as markets surged on Monday, setting up an interesting Nifty weekly expiry session. The Nifty blew past the post-earnings blues with major gains of over 200 points, closing just short of 25,700.
The larger, broader market also closed higher, though gains were scanty. The Nifty Midcap 100 rose 0.48%, while the Smallcap 100 added 0.11%.
One of the important cues in today's session will be the trade data that saw India’s merchandise trade deficit increase to a record $34.68 billion in the month of January, sharply higher than $25.04 billion in December.
In addition to that, India’s unemployment rate also spiked to 5% in January 2026, up from 4.8% in December. In addition to that today is also the Nifty weekly expiry session, as a result of which one could expect some volatility.
Some names that will be in focus include JSW Infra, Highway Infra, Cochin Shipyard, Delhivery, Lupin, and Texmaco, among others.
