Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova on Thursday said that the United States’ sanctions on Russia’s top oil giants, Rosneft and Lukoil, will ultimately “backfire," warning that such actions would hurt the global economy more than Moscow. She asserted that Washington’s punitive measures will not succeed in forcing Russia to compromise on its national interests.

Zakharova also noted that Moscow remains open to dialogue, saying there are “no major obstacles" to continuing peace talks. However, she stressed that any discussions should occur through diplomatic channels rather than “media leaks and political posturing," underscoring that genuine negotiations must be based on mutual respect and realism.
