Putin is on his first visit to India in four years for a two-day State visit to India at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

As Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in India for the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit, underscoring the deep and longstanding partnership between the two nations, he said that the relationship between the two countries is “based on trust".
Putin further stated that the world will only benefit if we travel on the path of peace and hailed Moscow’s relations with New Delhi as deeply rooted in history.

Earlier, the Russian President paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat in the national capital, following his ceremonial welcome and a tri-services guard of honour at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
PM Modi On Ukraine
Meanwhile, on the topic of the Russia-Ukraine war, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday told Russian President Vladimir Putin that India is “not neutral" and firmly stands “on the side of peace".
Welcoming Putin and the Russian delegation, PM Modi said both countries have remained in continuous contact since the start of the Ukraine crisis. He noted that Moscow has “briefed us on everything and shown faith in us," reaffirming that India believes in dialogue and peaceful resolution of disputes.
President Putin thanked PM Modi for the invitation, expressing appreciation for the warm welcome extended to him and his delegation during their visit.
