Days after Rahul Gandhi said he would soon come out with a “hydrogen bomb" of revelations about “vote chori", the Congress leader launched a sharp attack on the Election Commission, accusing it of shielding what he described as the “destroyer of democracy." The Congress leader alleged that instead of ensuring free and fair elections, the poll panel was acting in a biased manner.
Citing the example of fake applications in a constituency in Karnataka, Rahul Gandhi alleged that voter names were deleted using software.
“Let’s talk about how this is being done and why I’m saying and we are saying that this is being done in a centralised manner and this is being done not using individuals but using software," the Congress leader said.
“A software is picking up the first name in the booth and using it to delete votes. Someone ran an automated program to ensure that the first voter at the booth was the applicant. That same person got cell phones from outside the state, used them to file the application, and we are pretty certain that this was done in a centralised manner and it was done at scale. This was not done at a worker level; this was done at a whole simpler level," he added.
BJP Reacts
Responding to Rahul Gandhi’s claims, BJP Leader and Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said, “They were calling it a hydrogen bomb — is this what a hydrogen bomb looks like? Now they’re saying it was a dud. They lost, and what they should’ve done is accept defeat before the people and say — ‘Yes, you defeated us, no problem, we’ll work hard and come back to you again.’ But no — instead, they want to drag the courts into it, or blame someone else entirely."
“If there was vote rigging in Karnataka, how did your government come to power there? How did they form the government in Himachal?" the BJP leader questioned.
