Probe In Andhra Student's Death Ruled Out Foul Play, Says Indian Consulate In New York

The Indian Consulate in New York, in a social media post on Monday, said the initial probe into the death of a 20-year-old Andhra Pradesh student in Boston had ruled out “foul play”.

The Indian Consulate said it rendered assistance in the documentation and transportation of the Andhra student’s mortal remains to India, adding that the deceased student’s parents were in constant touch with the detectives investigating the killing.

Unidentified assailants allegedly killed Abhijeeth Paruchuru, a 20-year-old student studying engineering at Boston University. His body was found dumped in a car deep inside a forest a few days ago.

He was the only son of his parents Paruchuru Chakradhar and Srilakshmi.

Abhijeeth Paruchuru, according to a report by the Times of India, was a bright student since his childhood. His mother initially did not want him to go abroad for higher studies but later agreed keeping his future in mind, his family members told the newspaper.

The report also said that assailants may have killed Abhijit for money and his laptop. There are also questions being raised regarding a quarrel he had with other students at the university. The murder on the campus has raised many suspicions.

His mortal remains were moved to Burripalem in the Guntur district after completing all the formalities in the US.

Abhijeeth’s remains reached Burripalem in Guntur at his house late Friday evening.

This is the ninth incident of such an attack in the US on a person of Indian origin in 2024.
