Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday morning met all Members of Parliament from Bihar before the day’s proceedings began.
The MPs had gathered to congratulate him for his remarkable leadership, which delivered an impressive victory for the alliance in the state.
Each alliance MP individually extended their congratulations, and the Prime Minister, in turn, thanked every one of them, emphasising that their collective efforts played a crucial role in the win.
Modi underlined that while the victory was a triumph for the entire alliance, it also marked the beginning of greater responsibility for Bihar’s leaders. He urged them to continue working for the state’s development and welfare, reminding them that the real task begins after the election.
Following a photo opportunity, the Prime Minister briefly interacted with various alliance partners, reiterating the significance of Bihar’s win for the NDA.
NDA leaders welcomed him with traditional offerings, including a garland made of makhana, a Madhubani painting, and a customary shawl.
Among those who met the Prime Minister were Union Ministers Giriraj Singh and Chirag Paswan, former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, JD(U) working president Sanjay Jha, and RLP president Upendra Kushwaha, along with other NDA MPs.
The 2025 Bihar Legislative Assembly election, held in November, resulted in a historic landslide for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Democratic Alliance (NDA), which secured 202 of the 243 seats, far outpacing the opposition Mahagathbandhan (MGB), which managed only 35 seats. The BJP emerged as the single-largest party with around 89-91 seats, while its ally Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)) also performed strongly with about 83-85 seats, and smaller NDA partners like the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) added further strength.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar retained his position, marking another term in office, while the RJD, led by Tejashwi Yadav, suffered a major defeat, winning approximately 25 seats. The election underscored the dominance of the NDA in Bihar’s political landscape and highlighted a sharp reversal for the previously stronger opposition alliance.
