Parliament Winter Session Today: Parliament Winter Session Day 1 LIVE updates
Parliament Winter Session Live Updates, 1st December: The Winter Session of Parliament begins today. Questions over the revision of voter lists, concerns about the death of an election official in Bengal, and rising anxiety after the recent Delhi blast are expected to dominate the early days of the session.
Opposition push for debate on SIR: A major point of contention is the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Opposition parties, particularly the Trinamool Congress, have demanded a detailed discussion on the process. They argue that the revision is being carried out without proper planning and has placed undue pressure on Election Commission staff, especially after the death of an official in Bengal. Leaders from 36 parties raised the issue during the all-party meeting and insisted that Parliament must address the concerns urgently.
Delhi blast: Alongside the electoral roll controversy, Opposition parties also want a debate on the 10 November Delhi blast and the wider questions of national security that have followed. The incident has added to the already charged political climate, with several parties urging the government to provide clarity on the investigation and preventive measures.
14 bills to be discussed: Despite these flashpoints, the government is preparing to push ahead with a packed legislative schedule. The session, running until 19 December, will include 15 sittings and the introduction of 14 bills. Key proposals include the Atomic Energy Bill, the Higher Education Commission of India Bill, and major amendments to corporate, insurance, excise, and arbitration laws. A financial bill on health and national security cess is also expected.
With both the government and the Opposition preparing to take firm positions, the coming weeks are likely to be marked by sharp exchanges and heavy legislative activity.

Kharge also addressed former Vice-President Dhankhar’s exit from the Rajya Sabha. He welcomed C.P. Radhakrishnan as the new Rajya Sabha Chairman and assured the Opposition’s cooperation in maintaining parliamentary decorum.
“We appeal to the Vice-President to consider both sides fairly,” said Kharge, adding, “Don’t give undue attention to BJP MPs.”

Parliament Winter Session Live Updates: Kharge Slams PM Modi’s ‘Drama’ Remark; Accuses BJP Of Undermining Parliament, Ignoring Key Issues
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his “dramabazi delivery” on the opening day of the Winter Session. Posting on X, Kharge accused the government of neglecting key national issues and undermining parliamentary decorum over the past 11 years.
Kharge highlighted that during the last Monsoon Session, at least 12 bills were passed hurriedly, some in under 15 minutes, often without meaningful discussion. He cited controversial legislations including anti-farmer laws, GST, and the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, which were pushed through Parliament in a rush.
Kharge emphasised the opposition’s intent to prioritise matters like voter rights and the SIR process, where BLOs are losing lives due to excessive workloads. He urged the BJP to end “drama of distraction” and engage seriously in debates addressing unemployment, inflation, economic inequality, and resource management.
The Congress leader asserted that the government’s arrogance and focus on theatrics detracts from addressing pressing concerns of the common citizen, urging Parliament to focus on substantive issues impacting the nation.
???? पिछले…

Parliament Winter Session Live Updates: PM Modi Urges Opposition To Shed ‘Frustration Of Defeat’ Ahead Of Winter Session
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday urged opposition parties to approach the Winter Session of Parliament with responsibility, stating that electoral defeat should not become a pretext for disruption. He stressed that Parliament must remain a forum for substantive debate, adding that victory should not breed arrogance and defeat should not trigger obstruction.
Taking aim at the opposition, PM Modi remarked, “There is plenty of space for drama, those who want to perform can keep doing so. But what matters is delivery. If you have already come defeated, you have already spoken. Go and speak where you are about to face defeat.”
He said the session would reflect Parliament’s intentions for the nation and its commitment to progress. Some parties, he noted, appeared unable to accept recent electoral outcomes, with their statements revealing deep frustration.
Calling the session more than a ritual, the Prime Minister said it must “serve the nation, not the frustration of defeat”, and help drive India’s development forward.
“For some time now, our Parliament has either been used as a warm-up for elections or as a ground to vent the frustration of electoral defeat. All the anger is expressed inside the House. Some parties have created the Parliament to serve the politics of their respective states. The game they have been playing for the last ten years is not being accepted by the country,” added PM hitting out at Opposition.
