Parliament Monsoon Session Day 6 Live Updates: The Operation Sindoor debate began in Lok Sabha on Monday after initial delays due to disruptions in the House. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh began the debate in Lok Sabha, explaining how, through Operation Sindoor, the Indian armed forces hit nine terror targets in Pakistan and PoK and killed over 100 terrorists. He also said that the Operation was stopped because India’s objective was achieved and not under pressure.

“We stopped action because our objectives were met. It is baseless and wrong that the Operation Sindoor was stopped under any pressure,” Singh said as his statement was followed by uproar from the Opposition.

The Opposition ruckus earlier on Monday resulted in three consecutive adjournments, pushing the start time of the discussion. “If you want to discuss Operation Sindoor, then return to your seats. You all had sought a discussion on it, now you come to the well of the House, is it good? Do you want the debate or not? If yes, then return to your seats,” the Speaker told the Opposition MPs.

The Operation Sindoor debate has taken centrestage on Monday, with the Opposition demanding answers from the government over India’s May 7 to 10 operation against Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack. The Opposition also looks to corner the government over the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 civilians were killed in cold blood.

Top Ministers in the government, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP MPs Anurag Thakur and Nishikant Dubey, will take part in the Lok Sabha. Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi will open the debate for the Opposition.

The discussion in the Rajya Sabha will take place on Tuesday, July 29. Both Houses will hold a 32-hour debate in all on the topic.

Parliament Monsoon Session Day 6 Live Updates: Congress Surrendered India’s Interests For Decades, Says BJP MP Baijayant Panda

BJP MP Baijayant Jay Panda took aim at Congress during a Lok Sabha debate on Operation Sindoor, accusing the Congress of repeatedly surrendering India’s interests over the decades.

“If we look at the new normal that I have been talking about, it is important to understand what the past was. In the past, on a regular basis, almost on a daily basis, Pakistani-sponsored terrorists were attacking India and killing Indians. 2005 Delhi serial blasts, a dossier was sent to Pakistan. 2006 Varanasi bombings, India raised the issue in Indo-Pak talks. The Mumbai attacks in 2008, when so many people were killed, and the then government decided not to retaliate. The retaliation was planned by our armed forces, but the then government did not permit retaliation. It is on record that the then senior-most officials of the government, whether it was the Foreign Secretary, the then NSA, took a decision not to hit back at Pakistan. Seven months after the Mumbai attacks, the then Prime Minister met the Pakistani President on the sidelines of the SCO Summit in Russia and decided that India and Pakistan would continue dialogue. Our governments of the day, over decades kept appeasing them, putting no pressure on them to stop their terror funding…” he said.

A place where so many tourists visit, and terrorist activities happen there almost every day… And after all this, there was still no security, and those terrorists killed people by asking their names. People are doubting what the matter is?…”
