Pakistan’s Jaffar Express Derailment: Six bogies of Pakistan’s Jaffar Express train were derailed after being hit by explosions on the railway track in Jacobabad district of Sindh province on Wednesday.

The train was heading to Peshawar from Quetta in the restive province of Balochistan when the incident took place.

Videos of the train are circulating on social media, showing passengers deboarding with their belongings.

Jaffar Express, a daily passenger train operated by Pakistan Railways between Quetta and Peshawar, covers a distance of 1,632 kilometres in approximately 34 hours and 10 minutes.

In March this year, the same train– Jaffar Express– was hijacked by Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) insurgents near a mountainous area south of Quetta. Hundreds of passengers were taken hostage and over two dozen security personnel of Pakistan were killed by BLA forces. Gunmen from the Baloch militant group had “bombed the railway track" and taken control of the train in Sibi after wounding the driver.
