Pakistan has been grappling with internal crises and India’s retaliatory strike is likely to deepen the political limbo Pakistan has found itself in over the recent years.

People from Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s inner circle on Wednesday blamed Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir for dragging the country into conflict with India, after Indian forces launched Operation Sindoor to avenge the deaths of innocent civilians in the hands of terrorists trained in and based out of Pakistan.

Sources close to the jailed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) chief said the recent escalation is a result of the military’s “high-handedness" and “personal ambitions". They said the cross-border terror infrastructure is a cartelised operation run by the army leadership.
The reactions come after India launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ where it struck nine terror infrastructure sites across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), a press release by the Press Information Bureau said.
According to sources, the Indian Armed Forces’ Operation Sindoor has resulted in the deaths of at least 12 terrorists and injuries to 55 others. The strikes targeted key terror infrastructure across Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and Pakistan, with precision hits reported in areas including Kotli, Ahmadpur Sharqia, Muzaffarabad, Muridke, and Faisalabad.
The counter-terror operation also targeted Lashkar-e-Taiba’s headquarters in Muridke and designated terrorist and Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar’s madrassa.
Imran Khan had announced that his party will skip the key Pakistan government briefing on the current situation between Pakistan and India.
This decision was announced in a statement by the party’s political committee.
“Since this is merely a government briefing and there does not appear to be any serious attempt to build a national consensus, nor is there any intention to include an important national leader like Imran Khan, we believe that the participation of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf: in this briefing is not necessary," the PTI had said at the time.
Sources earlier said that after his appointment, General Asim Munir stayed silent initially but shifted to a confrontational posture after failing to contain domestic unrest, especially the growing support for Imran Khan and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
His recent rhetoric, including calling Kashmir Pakistan’s “jugular vein" and invoking the two-nation theory, reflects a divisive agenda, they added.
Following India’s diplomatic response to the Pahalgam attack, Munir was seen addressing troops from atop a tank during a military drill, warning that any Indian “military misadventure" would be met with a “swift, resolute and notch-up response."
