US President Donald Trump responded sharply to a reporter’s question regarding criticism of the federal response to the recent catastrophic floods in Texas. The question was asked by the reporter during a roundtable at the Hill Country Youth Event Centre in Kerrville, Texas, on Friday.

“Families are upset because they say that warnings didn’t go out in time, and they say that people could have been saved. What do you say to those families?," asked the reporter.

In response, Trump lashed out at the reporter backing the government’s efforts.

President Trump stood by the government’s efforts, emphasizing the unprecedented scale of the disaster. “Well, I think everyone did an incredible job under the circumstances," he said.

Referring to the remark by Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, Trump described the disaster as a “one-in-1,000-year flood" and expressed his respect for those involved in the response, adding that he had “admiration for the job that everybody did."

He then slammed the reporter for criticising the efforts by responders.

“Only a bad person would ask a question like that. To be honest with you, I don’t know who you are, but only a very evil person would ask a question like that. This has been heroism," he added.
