President Donald Trump on Tuesday said that the US is seeking more than just a ceasefire, aiming instead for a “real and lasting end" to the conflict between Israel and Iran.
Trump also posted on Truth Social that he had not contacted Iran for peace negotiations in any “way, shape, or form", stating that the country “should have taken the deal that was on the table".
Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump stated, “We’re looking at better than a ceasefire." He went on to explain what he meant by “better than a ceasefire," saying, “A real end. Not a ceasefire. An end," according to the BBC.
Earlier on Tuesday, Trump said that the possible ceasefire between Israel and Iran is not the reason behind his early departure from the G7 Summit in Canada; in fact, there is something “much bigger than that".
He also reacted to the French President’s comment on his G7 exit and said, “Emmanuel Macron always gets it wrong".

The US President’s reaction came after French President Emmanuel Macron reacted on Trump’s dramatic departure from the G7 Summit to rush back to Washington, claiming the US leader was considering the prospect of a ceasefire between Israel and Iran.
Taking to Truth Social, Trump said “publicity-seeking" President Emmanuel Macron has mistakenly said that I left the G7 Summit, in Canada, to go back to DC to work on a “cease fire" between Israel and Iran. Revealing the reason behind his exit, the US President said there is a much bigger purpose than the ceasefire deal between Iran and Israel.
“Wrong! He has no idea why I am now on my way to Washington, but it certainly has nothing to do with a Cease Fire. Much bigger than that. Whether purposely or not, Emmanuel always gets it wrong. Stay Tuned!" Trump on on Truth Social.
Earlier this morning, the White House announced that Trump would cut short his attendance at the Group of Seven Summit in Canada and return a day early to address the escalating Middle East crisis.
Soon after this, Macron commented on Trump’s early departure, calling it a “positive move" given the urgent need to push both Israel and Iran toward a ceasefire.
‘Immediately Evacuate Tehran’: Donald Trump
Soon after announcing his rushed departure announcement, US President Donald Trump, in view of the escalated tension between Israel and Iran, urged people to “immediately evacuate Tehran".
Following this, Trump once again emphasised his stance on Iran’s nuclear program, declaring that it “cannot have a nuclear weapon". He went on to call the current situation “a shame".
