Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Tuesday said that talks in Geneva with US and European officials have produced a more streamlined and workable set of proposals aimed at ending Russia’s nearly four-year invasion, while cautioning that significant challenges and external pressures remain.

In an X post following the return of the Ukrainian delegation from Switzerland, Zelenskyy said the negotiations, centred on a US-drafted 28-point peace plan, had resulted in “fewer points" and incorporated “many of the right elements" after intensive discussions with American and European partners.

“Now the list of necessary steps to end the war can become doable," he wrote, adding that Ukraine must continue working “with dignity" to finalise the document.

The president said Kyiv appreciates that “most of the world is ready to help us and that the American side is approaching this constructively".

According to him, the Geneva talks involved “challenging, extremely thorough work" and ran almost the entire day.

Zelenskyy confirmed that his team presented a new draft of proposed steps and stressed that he would raise the most delicate issues directly with US President Donald Trump.

“This is indeed the right approach, I will discuss the sensitive issues with President Trump," he said.

Reaffirming Kyiv’s stance, he added, “Ukraine will never be an obstacle to peace, this is our principle, a shared principle, and millions of Ukrainians are counting on, and deserve, a dignified peace."

However, the Ukrainian President also warned of attempts to undermine the process.

He said Russia is attempting to “derail this opportunity for an agreement and prolong the war" by spreading disinformation and intimidating Ukrainians.

Kyiv, he said, is pushing back against “every such attempt to derail the end of the war".

In an accompanying video message, Zelenskyy elaborated on the negotiations, saying the revised framework “can become workable" and that finalising a peace document remains “very difficult" and will require continued collaboration.

He said he held coordination calls with several European leaders, including the presidents of Finland and Lithuania and the Prime Ministers of Norway and Spain.

“Ukraine is not alone, and this is important," he said.

Zelenskyy also issued a pointed message to Ukraine’s partners, urging them to take seriously the threats detected by their own intelligence services, including possible Russian missile and air-strike escalations during ongoing diplomatic efforts.

“If we really end the war, then there must be no missiles, there must be no massive strikes on Ukraine," he said, noting that such restraint is achievable “for those who are really strong in the world", with much depending on the United States.

The Ukrainian leader spoke after taking part in the Crimean Platform parliamentary summit in Sweden, where more than 70 delegations reaffirmed support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity.

Zelenskyy said global backing for Kyiv remains “strong, very demonstrative", and that the path to peace must be “just and dignified".

“Russia started this war. Russia must end this war," he said, closing his message with an appeal for unity and resilience, “The main thing is to be strong, to be united, to be effective, so that Ukraine manages to achieve peace, decent peace."
