No hostile design can weaken resolve of our armed forces: Pak Army chief

Pakistan's armed forces were determined and "no hostile design" can weaken their resolve, Army chief General Asim Munir said on Monday.

According to a statement by the Pakistan Army, General Munir made the remarks during a visit to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Rawalpindi to inquire about the well-being of soldiers and civilians wounded in the recent military confrontation with India.

India carried out precision strikes under 'Operation Sindoor' on terror infrastructure early on May 7, in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. Following India's action, Pakistan attempted to target Indian military bases on May 8, 9, and 10.

India and Pakistan reached an understanding on Saturday to end the conflict after four days of intense cross-border drone and missile strikes.

Earlier, General Munir met with the injured personnel, praised their "bravery and steadfast devotion to duty," and reaffirmed the Pakistan Armed Forces’ unwavering commitment to their continued care, rehabilitation, and welfare, reports PTI.

Speaking on the occasion, General Munir emphasised that the entire nation stands in resolute solidarity with every member of its armed forces. He added that "no hostile design can erode the determination of the Armed Forces of Pakistan."

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation. He said 'Operation Sindoor' was not just a one-off exercise and was India's new policy against terrorism as he reiterated that terror and talks cannot go together. In his first address to the nation after 'Operation Sindoor', India's response to the Pahalgam attack, PM Modi also underscored that the country would not succumb to nuclear blackmail.

Shredding Pakistan over terrorism, just as the armed forces took apart 11 of its military sites and airbases, PM Modi asserted that India had just paused its offensive on Islamabad's terror camps and military sites.
