UK PM Keir Starmer called the trade deal "a major win for Britain" while PM Narendra Modi hailed it as a "historic day in bilateral ties" between the two countries

Both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his British counterpart Keir Starmer hailed the India-UK free trade agreement as a comprehensive deal between the two countries.
Starmer called the trade deal “a major win for Britain" while Modi hailed it as a “historic day in bilateral ties".
“First, I would like to thank PM Starmer for his welcome…today is a historic day in our bilateral relationship…both countries have completed a comprehensive economic trade agreement," Modi said.
Starmer, meanwhile, said: “Our landmark trade deal with India is a major win for Britain."
The free trade agreement (FTA) between India and UK, which was inked on Thursday, will cut tariffs on British whisky, cars and an array of items, besides boosting bilateral trade by around USD 34 billion annually.
The deal was signed by Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and his British counterpart Jonathan Reynold in the presence of Modi and Starmer.
