Israel Defence Minister, Israel Katz, on Friday warned Hezbollah against joining the current conflict with Iran and said Israel has lost patience with terrorists who threaten the country and would retaliate accordingly.

This came after the head of Iran-backed Hezbollah, Naim Qassem, said on Thursday that the Lebanese group would extend support to Iran in the face of what he called “brutal Israeli-American aggression" against Iran.

In response to Hezbollah’s support, Israel Katz said on X, “The Hezbollah Secretary-General is not learning a lesson from his predecessors and is threatening to act against Israel in accordance with the Iranian dictator’s orders."

“I suggest to the Lebanese proxy to be careful and understand that Israel has lost patience with terrorists who threaten it. If there is terrorism, there will be no Hezbollah."

Qassem had pledged “all forms of support" to Iran in its fight against Israel and the United States, accusing US President Donald Trump of leading the region into chaos and instability, and the world into open crises.

“We stand with our independence, the liberation of our land, and the freedom of our decisions and choices," he said, urging support for Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

‘Very, Very Bad Decision’: US Warns Hezbollah

Meanwhile, a top US official visiting Beirut discouraged Hezbollah from intervening in the war between Iran and Israel, saying it would be a “very bad decision".

“I can say on behalf of President Trump, which he has been very clear in expressing, as has Special Envoy Steve Witkoff: that would be a very, very, very bad decision," he said during his visit.

Earlier, Hezbollah said it would not launch its own attack on Israel in response to the attack on Iran. Hezbollah was left badly weakened from last year’s war with Israel, in which the group’s leadership was killed along with thousands of fighters, while its nuclear stockpile was damaged.

Meanwhile, the White House said Trump will decide within the next two weeks whether to strike Iran, as he still sees a “substantial" chance that negotiations can achieve US and Israeli demands on Iran’s nuclear programme.
