Election Results 2025 Kerala Local Body Polls Live Updates: The Kerala local body elections reflected two distinct political trends, with the Congress-led UDF strengthening its position across much of the state, while the BJP-led NDA registered a landmark breakthrough in the capital. The UDF emerged as the leading force overall, tightening its grip on a large number of panchayats and municipalities, even as the NDA captured the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation in a historic upset.

The NDA’s win in the state capital brought an end to the Left Democratic Front’s 45-year dominance of the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, making it one of the most significant electoral reversals in recent Kerala politics. The LDF, however, managed to secure all four municipalities within the Thiruvananthapuram district.

According to figures released by the Kerala State Election Commission at 9 pm, the UDF had either won or was leading in 505 of the 941 gram panchayats, 79 of the 152 block panchayats, seven of the 14 district panchayats, 54 of the 87 municipalities and four of the six corporations.

In the 101-member Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, the BJP secured 50 wards, just one short of a clear majority, while the LDF was reduced to 29 seats and the UDF to 19, with two seats going to independents. Outside the capital, the NDA also held on to Palakkad municipality after a closely fought contest, wrested control of Thrippunithura from the UDF, and posted steady gains in Thrissur district.
