Kalyan Banerjee Faces Flak For PoK Remark, BJP Accuses TMC Of Peddling Pakistan's Agenda

The BJP launched an attack on the Trinamool Congress, alleging that its Lok Sabha member Kalyan Banerjee referred to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir as “Pakistan-Governed Azad Kashmir" during the debate in the Parliament on Operation Sindoor.

In a post on X, Amit Malviya, BJP’s IT chief and West Bengal Co-incharge, said Pakistan has found a strange ally in the TMC.

The BJP leader also alleged Banerjee mocked the valour of India’s armed forces, insinuating that “Pakistani terrorists just walk in, kill, and leave — and then giggled."

He also alleged that the TMC MP ridiculed India’s intelligence agencies, turning Pakistan’s terror strikes into a joke through mimicry.

“This isn’t dissent. This is disgrace. Is the TMC representing India’s voice or Pakistan’s propaganda?" Malviya wrote in the post.

Malviya’s party colleague Pradeep Bhandari also hit out at the TMC, calling Banerjee’s remark “shameful."

A part of the Indian territory of Jammu and Kashmir has been illegally occupied by Pakistan under the name “Azad Kashmir." But India has maintained that the entire Jammu and Kashmir, including PoK, is an inalienable part of the country.

In his speech in the Lok Sabha, Banerjee questioned the government and asked why a ceasefire was declared under “pressure of America."

“The moment you stand in front of the US President, your height shrinks to 5 feet and your chest from 56 inches to 36 inches. Why are you so afraid of the US President?" he asked.
