Weighing in on the cessation of the conflict between India and Pakistan, US President Donald Trump posted a message on his social media platform Truth Social expressing his approval of the de-escalation.

He wrote, “I am very proud of the strong and unwaveringly powerful leadership of India and Pakistan for having the strength, wisdom, and fortitude to fully know and understand that it was time to stop the current aggression that could have lead to the death and destruction of so many, and so much."

Asserting the United States’ pivotal role in facilitating the ceasefire, Donald Trump said, “Millions of good and innocent people could have died! Your legacy is greatly enhanced by your brave actions. I am proud that the USA was able to help you arrive at this historic and heroic decision. While not even discussed, I am going to increase trade, substantially, with both of these great Nations. Additionally, I will work with you both to see if, after a “thousand years," a solution can be arrived at concerning Kashmir. God Bless the leadership of India and Pakistan on a job well done!!!"

India’s Stand On Kashmir

India’s unwavering stance on Kashmir constitutes a strictly bilateral matter to be resolved solely between India and Pakistan, firmly rejecting any form of third-party intervention or mediation. This position is deeply entrenched in the Simla Agreement of 1972, which both nations signed, committing to settle all outstanding issues, including Jammu and Kashmir, through direct bilateral negotiations.

India considers the region an integral part of its sovereign territory, viewing external involvement as an unacceptable infringement on its internal affairs. India has always asserted its capability to engage directly with Pakistan on the issue, deeming bilateral discussions the most appropriate path forward. New Delhi has also consistently opposed Pakistan’s efforts to internationalize the Kashmir issue through platforms like the United Nations, perceiving such attempts as counterproductive and aimed at exerting undue pressure.

Donald Trump Announces ‘Full And Immediate Ceasefire’ Between India And Pakistan

Earlier, Donald Trump said that after a long night of talks mediated by the United States, India and Pakistan have agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire as he congratulated both countries for demonstrating common sense and intelligence in resolving the conflict.

“After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE. Congratulations to both Countries on using Common Sense and Great Intelligence. Thank you for your attention to this matter!" he said in a post on Truth Social.
