JK Cement ramps up capacity with commissioning of Bihar grinding unit

JK Cement on Thursday, January 29, announced the commissioning of a 3 million tonnes per annum (MnTPA) cement grinding unit at its JK Cement Works in Buxar, Bihar, further strengthening its manufacturing footprint in eastern India.

The move follows the company’s earlier announcements on capacity expansion at Prayagraj, the commissioning of Clinker Line-2 at Panna, and clinker and cement capacity additions of 1 MnTPA each at Panna and Hamirpur.

The newly commissioned unit is part of JK Cement’s overall 6 MnTPA expansion programme, approved by the Board of Directors in January 2024. The plan includes a brownfield expansion of clinker capacity by 3.3 MnTPA and cement grinding capacity by 3 MnTPA across Panna, Hamirpur, and Prayagraj, along with a greenfield cement grinding facility of 3 MnTPA in Bihar.


With this commissioning, JK Cement’s total grey cement production capacity has risen to 31.26 MnTPA, including the capacities of its subsidiary.

Shares of JK Cement closed lower on Thursday, January 29, down 2.13% at ₹5,550.00 on the NSE.
