The March edition of the Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent’s (AQIS) monthly Urdu propaganda magazine has framed global conflicts as a unified war narrative.

The publication is used to outline the group’s ideology, provide strategic guidance, and incite violence, often focusing on the Indian subcontinent, specifically Kashmir.

AQIS COVER

The cover prominently features flags of multiple countries including the US, UK, Israel, India, China, France, Spain, Myanmar, Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Egypt, Turkey, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Syria, and Iraq. They are shown as a unified front hostile to Islam and accused of actions against Muslim communities worldwide

AQIS WANT KASHMIRIS TO LEARN FROM AFGHANISTAN, TALIBAN

The magazine positions Kashmir and Afghanistan as core theatres in jihadist messaging. The publication links Kashmir and Afghanistan as two fronts of the same religious war narrative. They fear radicalisation is going down and want to use the global conflict as opportunity.

Afghanistan is used as proof-of-concept that sustained insurgency can defeat a global superpower

Pakistan. It also criticises Taliban for compromising militant objectives

The publication presents Kashmir as the primary battlefield of Ghazwa-e-Hind. AQIS says it as a religiously mandated campaign. Militancy in Kashmir is described as the gateway for expanding jihad deeper into India.

WHAT INTELLIGENCE SOURCES SAID

The messaging attempts to revive symbolic relevance of Kashmir despite reduced violence after Article 370. Afghanistan is portrayed as a successful model of jihad after the Taliban’s return to power in 2021. Afghanistan is shown as a strategic safe haven for training, ideological consolidation, and regrouping of fighters from South Asia.

“This issue is deliberately trying to transform a territorial and political dispute into an obligation. This is designed to sustain ideological motivation even when local militant capacity declines. The narrative is used to elevate Kashmir from a localised insurgency to a strategic Launchpad. This is intended to inspire regional fighters and justify long-term proxy warfare," said intelligence sources.

“AQIS is trying to reframe developments as religious problem not governance reform. This propaganda seeks to counter declining separatist momentum and more radical recruitment in Kashmir. This is aimed to strengthen extremist morale and also shows the need for long-duration militant campaigns," said sources.
