Air India reports no issues in fuel control switches on Boeing 787 planes
The investigation into the Air India Flight AI171 crash in Ahmedabad is intensifying with two major developments. Air India has concluded its inspection of the fuel control switch locking mechanisms on its Boeing 787 fleet and found no technical snags. This action was prompted by the AAIB's preliminary report on the June 12 crash, which highlighted a cockpit conversation about the fuel switches. Meanwhile, the Federation of Indian Pilots (FIP) has expressed dissatisfaction with the probe. They issued a statement saying, "At the outset, we would like to register our dissatisfaction with the exclusion of pilot representatives from the investigation process. Affirming blame before a thorough, transparent, impartial...Data driven investigation is both premature and irresponsible." The FIP contends that suggesting pilot error based on selective information from the cockpit voice recorder is inappropriate without the involvement of pilot representatives in the investigation.
