Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Sunday launched a major missile barrage against Israel, firing 40 missiles, including its powerful Khorramshahr-4 ballistic missiles, each capable of carrying a 1,500-kilogram warhead.
According to Iran’s IRNA news agency, this was the 20th wave of Iranian strikes in the ongoing war. Iran’s armed forces also claimed they had targeted several Israeli sites, including Ben Gurion Airport, a biological research facility, logistics bases, and multiple command and control centres.
The missile assault come after a series of US airstrikes early Sunday that hit three key Iranian nuclear sites—Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan—causing what US officials described as “severe damage."
Meanwhile, Israeli authorities said that over 80 people were injured, most with minor wounds, as several missiles hit central and southern Israel, including Tel Aviv, where a multistorey building was heavily damaged.
In response, the Israeli military said it had swiftly neutralised the Iranian launchers responsible for the attack. It also launched counter-strikes on military targets in western Iran and Qom, south of Tehran.
The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) later confirmed that dozens of military targets were struck across Iran, including a long-range missile site in Yazd, marking the first such strike in the region.
At least nine members of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard were reported killed in Israeli airstrikes on central Iran, according to Iranian media.
“Following the aggression of the barbaric Zionist regime and its mercenaries against two military centres in Yazd city, seven Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps personnel and two conscripts were martyred," the Tasnim news agency reported, citing an official IRGC statement.
Several others were injured, it added. The Fars news agency also confirmed that two military sites in Yazd were among the Israeli targets.
