Iran closed its airspace to commercial flights early Thursday morning amid threats of an imminent attack from the United States. An Indian passenger aircraft was the last non-Iran-registered airline to exit the country’s airspace, according to a post by Flight Rada24 early Thursday morning.
Indigo Flight 6E1808, which departed Tbilisi in Georgia, passed over Iran at about 2.35 am on Thursday, according to flight tracking data. It cleared the Iranian skies minutes before the closure.
The airspace closure came after repeated threats from US President Donald Trump, who said America would attack Tehran if it targeted the ongoing anti-government protesters on the streets of multiple cities in the country.
