Amid rising rhetoric and threats against Indian-origin people in the US, American journalist and right-wing activist Matt Forney has warned of targeted attacks against the community and Hindu temples in 2026, and suggested that all of its members be deported back to India. Forney, who has a history of anti-immigrant hate remarks, was earlier fired from his job for comments directed against Indians. In a recent post, he said the US "must deport every Indian".

In a now-deleted post on X, Matt Forney predicted that hatred towards Indians in the US would hit a boiling point in 2026, alleging that Indian-origin individuals, homes, businesses and temples would be far more vulnerable to violent attacks like mass shootings and bombings. Claiming he was "someone who wants peace in America", Forney called for the mass deportation of all Indian-Americans to save their lives and to preserve harmony within the country, stating, "We must DEI: Deport Every Indian."

Matt Forney is an American columnist, writer and a journalist with a history of spreading anti-Indian hate remarks and calling for their deportation on social media sites like X. His posts recently got him booted from the American news organisation The Blaze where he had been hired as a reporter on the H-1B visa programme and Indian issues.

He had disparaged Kruti Patel Goyal, an Indian-American citizen who had just been appointed the CEO of the e-commerce platform Etsy. "Yet another unqualified Indian takes over an American company," he noted, "And I guarantee her first action will be to fire every American and replace them with other Indians, either directly or via bodyshops. DEI: Deport Every Indian."

Anti-immigrant rhetoric, especially directed at Indian-origin people in the US and the H-1B programme that has been used to hire Indian techies, has been on the rise since Donald Trump's presidential campaign. With Trump in the White House, MAGA and extremist voices have become more aggressive and menacing.

Researchers at the Center for the Study of Organized Hate have documented a surge of anti-Indian sentiment on X in the last one year, according to a CNN report from November 2025. The centre recorded nearly 2,700 posts promoting racism and xenophobia against Indians and Indian-Americans in October, according to the report.

INDIANS WILL BE RACIALLY SINGLED OUT FOR VIOLENCE: FORNEY

In his now-deleted post, Forney predicted that Indian hatred would reach a crescendo in 2026 and result in a record number of anti-Indian attacks. "Indians will be racially singled out for violence, Indian-owned businesses will be vandalised, Hindu temples will be hit with bombings and mass shootings," he noted.

He claimed that the attacks would be carried out not by whites, but by racial minorities like African-Americans, Hispanic-Americans and Pakistani-origin citizens, and alleged that the media would "cover up hate crimes they would otherwise eagerly blame on MAGA and Trump". Forney proposed that if peace were to be maintained in the US, the best step would be to "Deport Every Indian".

His now-deleted post came under a barrage of criticism from users on X, one of whom accused him of "using coded language to make a threat if Indians aren’t forcibly removed".

Although Forney swiftly deleted the post and posted a clarification saying that he had made the post because "Indians were marshalling their mass report squads", one user swiftly posted a screenshot of the deleted post within the comments section, challenging him to own up to his words.

Other users also joined in, accusing Forney of cowardice and calling for violence against Indian-origin citizens. One person tagged the FBI, calling for Forney to be placed in "solitary confinement" for inciting violence, and also tagged India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), suggesting that it seek an Interpol notice against him.
