Indian Man Wins Rs 35 Crore Jackpot In Dubai: 'For The First Time In My Life, I Am Happy'

Sandeep Kumar Prasad from Uttar Pradesh won 15 million Dirhams in Abu Dhabi Big Ticket Series 278.

Sandeep bought the winning ticket- number 200669- on August 19.

An Indian expatriate living in Dubai won the grand prize of 15 million United Arab Emirates Dirhams (around Rs 35 crore) in the Abu Dhabi Big Ticket Series 278 draw held on September 3, according to reports in The Khaleej Times. The winner, Sandeep Kumar Prasad, a 30-year-old technician at Dubai Drydocks, hails from Uttar Pradesh and has been residing in the UAE for the past three years.

Sandeep bought the winning ticket- number 200669- on August 19 as part of a group of 20 people. He had only been purchasing tickets for three months before hitting the jackpot. Initially sceptical when contacted by the Big Ticket hosts, he said he was overwhelmed once he realised the news was true.

“For the first time in my life, there is so much happiness," Sandeep told Gulf News.

He added that the windfall would allow him to better support his family in India, particularly to take care of his father’s health and also to start his own business when he eventually returns home.

Married and the eldest among two brothers and a sister, Sandeep said he has long felt responsible for his family’s well-being while living abroad.

“This win has given me the strength and hope to build a secure future for them," he said.

Expressing his gratitude to Big Ticket, he offered encouragement to other hopefuls, “If you try, you will also win."

In a twist of luck, his winning ticket was picked by Sabuj Miah Amir Hossain Dewan, a Bangladeshi tailor in Dubai who himself won a Dh20 million grand prize in August- his first attempt at the lottery.
