India is helping Nepal's flood rescue as the death toll has crossed 900. The joint effort is crucial with thousands still missing and hydropower workers feared trapped.

India is continuing to assist Nepal in rescue and relief work after the flash floods that hit the country’s northern and central parts on August 26, as the death toll crossed 900 and more than 4,000 people remained missing on Monday, according to the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority.
Amid the rescue efforts, three Indian nationals were among four people rescued by the Nepali Army from Chilime village in flood-hit Rasuwa district, Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava said. The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu is now facilitating their return to India.
In a post on X, Srivastava said, "Met 3 Indian nationals and their Nepali colleague, who were rescued by Nepali Army from Chilime village, that was badly affected by flash floods in #Rasuwa. We thank the Nepali army for their help."
India has also deployed specialised teams to support Nepal’s rescue operations and the identification of victims, the Ministry of External Affairs said on Sunday. A 19-member Indian forensics team began work in Kathmandu on Sunday to help analyse DNA samples for identifying mortal remains. An Indian tunnel rescue team also continued operations at hydropower sites in Chilime and Langtang.
According to the NDRRMA, expert teams from India and China are assisting Nepal’s rescue teams in efforts to trace 933 workers and employees at various hydropower project sites who have been out of contact since August 26, with many believed to be trapped in tunnels. The flash floods, believed to have been triggered by a collapse or avalanche of ice and rock near the Nepal-Tibet border, swept through the Bhotekoshi River corridor, destroying homes, roads and bridges and damaging hydropower projects.
The Indian Embassy has been continuously helping rescued Indian nationals return from flood-affected areas, as Nepal presses on with search, rescue and identification work after one of the country’s worst recent disasters.
