US President Donald Trump on Tuesday called China and India as the “primary funders" of the ongoing war in Ukraine, saying both countries continue to buy oil from Russia. At the same time, he criticised NATO nations for also failing to cut back on imports of Russian energy and related products.
Speaking at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Trump said he learnt about the continued purchases two weeks ago and called it “inexcusable".
“China and India are the primary funders of the ongoing war by continuing to purchase Russian oil," Trump said, referring to the war in Ukraine.
He further added, “But inexcusably, even NATO countries have not cut off much Russian energy and Russian energy products, which as you know, I found out about 2 weeks ago and I wasn’t happy."
