A Hyderabad woman living in the United States was killed in a road accident in New Jersey on Tuesday. The victim, Sripati Deepa Reddy, was reportedly preparing to travel to India in the coming days when the fatal crash occurred.
Originally from Telangana's Rangareddy district, Deepa Reddy had been living in the US since 2008 with her husband, Ramakrishna Reddy. The couple, both software professionals, had built their lives in the US, where they were raising their two daughters.
According to preliminary information, Deepa was driving in New Jersey when her car collided with another vehicle. She sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene. Local police have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the crash.
The tragedy has been particularly heartbreaking for the family as Deepa was expected to visit India within the next few days. Relatives said the trip had already been planned, making her sudden death even more difficult to come to terms with. Family members said Deepa's organs would be donated.
A video circulating on social media purportedly captures the aftermath of the accident. Filmed from inside a passing vehicle, it shows police and emergency personnel at the scene, with damaged vehicles stopped along the roadside as traffic moves slowly past.
Police in New Jersey are continuing their investigation into the crash, and further details are awaited.
