A video has surfaced showing a Houthi ballistic missile launched from Yemen towards Israel on Tuesday evening narrowly missing a civilian plane.
The missile was intercepted by Israeli air defence systems just in time. A video shared by the Israeli war room on social media showed a plane flying close to the area moments before the interception.
“Earlier today, a Houthi ballistic missile launched at Israeli civilians nearly hit a civilian plane. If not for the competence of Israeli air defenses, there could have been a mass casualty event caused by Iranian-backed terrorists," said the Israeli war room in a post on X.

The Israeli military had confirmed it had “identified the launch of a missile from Yemen toward Israeli territory", and said warning sirens were activated in several areas.
The Houthi group, which controls parts of Yemen and is backed by Iran, claimed responsibility for the missile launch. Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said in a video that the group had fired “two ballistic missiles" targeting Israel’s main airport.
This Houthi attack comes a day after Israeli forces carried out an air strike on Hodeida, a port city controlled by the Houthis on Yemen’s Red Sea coast.
Israel’s military said its navy targeted ‘terror targets belonging to the Huthi terrorist regime’ to prevent the port from being used to transfer weapons.
Israel has launched several attacks on Houthi-held areas in Yemen, including ports and the airport in the capital Sanaa, since the Houthis began firing missiles and drones after the Gaza war started in October 2023.
The Iran-backed Houthis, who say they are acting in solidarity with Palestinians, paused their attacks during a two-month Gaza ceasefire that ended in March, but resumed them when Israel restarted its military operations.
