Hindustan Copper's market capitalisation is now near the mark of ₹70,000 crore as the stock has more than doubled in value over the last two months.

Shares of Hindustan Copper Ltd. are up another 17% on Thursday, January 29, having gained 13% on Wednesday as well. This is the fourth straight day of gains for the stock.

With this move, the stock is up 36% in the month of January itself, making it the best start to the year that the stock has had since 2012. Shares had risen 67% back in January 2012.

The 36% move in January follows a 59% upmove that the stock had seen in December last year. Shares have doubled in value in the last two months, taking the market capitalisation to nearly ₹70,000 crore from just over ₹30,000 crore at the start of December 2025.


Copper prices globally jumped to a record high as investors kept piling into the metal on expectations of tight supplies and a weak US Dollar. Three-month futures on the London Metal Exchange rose to as high as $13,965, taking the gains in January to over 12%. Aluminium prices are also at a three-year high.

On the charts, Hindustan Copper's shares have entered "overbought" territory, with the Relative Strength Index (RSI) now at 78. An RSI reading above 70 means that the stock is in "overbought" territory.

The number of retail shareholders in Hindustan Copper increased by more than 2 lakh between the September to December quarter. Retail shareholders, or those with authorized share capital of up to ₹2 lakh, increased to 8.31 lakh at the end of December 2025 from 6.28 lakh in September, according to the company's shareholding pattern on the BSE.

In percentage terms, the stake held by retail shareholders increased to 15.53% from 14.55% in September.

Hindustan Copper's shares had surged 57% during the October-December period, where majority of the gains had come in the month of December itself.

Shares of Hindustan Copper are trading 17% higher on Thursday at ₹736.9. The stock emerged as the one with the highest turnover on the Nifty 500 index on Wednesday with a trading volumes of over ₹6,600 crore. Nearly ₹1,400 crore of that was marked for delivery, as per NSE data.
