Here's how much IndiGo's outgoing CEO Pieter Elbers took home in his final paycheck

Pieter Elbers, who stepped down as Chief Executive Officer of InterGlobe Aviation on March 10, 2026, took home a remuneration of ₹69.5 crore in FY26, with stock options accounting for nearly 61% or ₹43 crore of the total. His annual salary stood at ₹14 crore, taking his total compensation sharply higher from nearly ₹43 crore in FY25.

Elbers, who owned 75,000 shares of the country's largest airline at the end of FY25, held no shares as of March 31, 2026, according to data compiled from the airline's regulatory filings.

Interestingly, Elbers' name was mentioned only nine times in the FY26 annual report, compared with nearly two dozen references in FY25. Meanwhile, William Walsh, who is set to take over as Chief Executive Officer from August 2026, was mentioned three times in the report.

Rahul Bhatia, who has served as Managing Director since February 4, 2022, did not draw any remuneration in FY26. He held 40,000 shares in the airline as of March-end 2026.

The median remuneration of employees, excluding long-term incentives, increased 5% in FY26, while the average increase in remuneration for employees other than managerial personnel stood at 9%.

As of March 31, 2026, InterGlobe Aviation employed 41,907 permanent employees. Women accounted for more than 46% of the workforce, with 17.3% holding leadership positions.

Revenue from operations rose 5% year-on-year to ₹84,962 crore in FY26. Employee expenses, which accounted for nearly 10% of revenue, increased 11% to ₹8,272 crore.

Shares of InterGlobe Aviation ended Wednesday's session at ₹5,276.50 on the NSE. The stock has gained 4.3% so far in 2026, after rising 11% in 2025. Analysts remain largely bullish, with 21 of the 26 analysts tracking the stock maintaining a "Buy" rating, three recommending "Hold", and two rating it "Sell".
