Explosion at Pakistan Supreme Court
At least 12 people were injured after an explosion in the basement of the Supreme Court of Pakistan on Tuesday.
The explosion occurred during repair work on the central air-conditioning system in the basement cafeteria of the top court building, SAMAA TV reported, citing sources.
The blast activated swift activation of emergency protocols and security forces and rescue teams reportedly reached the top court within minutes.
Express Tribune quoted Islamabad Inspector General Ali Nasir Rizvi as saying that the gas explosion occurred in the Supreme Court canteen at 10:55am.

“Experts have also confirmed that it was a gas explosion. The condition of two individuals is critical," he said, adding that the AC technicians sustained most injuries with one receiving 80% burns.
He further said that gas had been leaking in the canteen for several days.
According to Samaa TV, the explosion caused panic inside the building as the shockwaves shook the Supreme Court premises, prompting lawyers, judges’ staff, and other employees to rush outside to safety. Justice Ali Baqar Najafi and Justice Shahzad Malik were conducting a hearing before the explosion.
