Meanwhile, financial and energy stocks have boosted the index, offsetting the drag from IT.

The extended decline in shares of India’s top IT companies has sharply reduced their influence in the benchmark Nifty50 index. The five sector heavyweights — Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), HCL Technologies, Tech Mahindra, and Wipro — have collectively fallen around 25% so far this year, dragging their combined weight in the Nifty50 down to 9.9%.
