Sammaan Capital on Thursday, December 18, clarified that a recent media report linking a fresh FIR by the Delhi Police to the company relates to an ongoing Supreme Court matter involving its former promoter and has no bearing on the company’s current operations or management.

In a regulatory filing responding to queries from the BSE and NSE, the company said the news report dated December 17 pertained to proceedings in the Supreme Court in the case Citizens Whistle Blowers Forum vs Union of India & Others.

The matter was last heard on December 17, during which the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Delhi Police filed affidavits in compliance with earlier court directions.

According to the filing, the CBI informed the Supreme Court that senior officials from the CBI, Enforcement Directorate (ED), Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) and SEBI had met to examine the allegations and assess the need for constituting a Special Investigation Team (SIT). However, no decision to form an SIT was taken. The CBI further stated that the ED had approached the Delhi Police, following which an FIR was registered.

Sammaan Capital emphasised that Gehlaut had ceased to be a promoter of the company in December 2021, exited the board in March 2022, and was formally declassified as a promoter in February 2023. It added that he has also exited the company’s shareholding since September 2023 and that the company has no relationship whatsoever with him.

Shares of Sammaan Capital ended lower on Thursday, December 18, by 1.63% at 143.40 on the NSE.
