Swiss authorities have formally charged a man with the murder of his wife, Kristina Joksimovic, a former Miss Switzerland finalist, in what investigators have described as a horrific and meticulously carried out killing, according to the New York Post.
The 38-year-old model and entrepreneur was found dismembered in her Binningen home, near Basel, in February 2024.
Her husband, identified only as Thomas in Swiss media to comply with privacy laws, allegedly admitted to strangling her, the report quoted prosecutors as saying.
The Basel-Landschaft Public Prosecutor’s Office announced Wednesday that Thomas is now facing formal murder charges after completing its investigation.
A trial date has yet to be scheduled.
Court documents and the autopsy report obtained by the Daily Mail, as cited by the New York Post, provide a harrowing account of the killing and the extent of Joksimovic’s injuries.
Investigators found that Thomas allegedly used a combination of tools, including a jigsaw, knives, and garden shears, to dismember his wife’s body.
The autopsy revealed that he also removed her womb, which was reportedly the only organ extracted from her torso.
Some body parts were then reportedly chopped further using an industrial blender, “pureed," and even dissolved in a chemical solution, authorities confirmed.
Court documents indicate that Thomas was allegedly watching YouTube videos on his phone while committing these acts.
The gruesome discovery of Joksimovic’s remains was made by her father, who noticed strands of blond hair protruding from a black bag in the laundry room, according to a friend quoted by the Daily Mail.
Investigators recovered the blender and several of her remains, including pieces of skin with muscle still attached and chunks of bone.
The autopsy report detailed that Thomas had allegedly snapped her hip joints, removed her upper left arm, forearms, and right lower leg, before severing her spine to decapitate her.
Thomas, 43, who fathered two daughters with Joksimovic, reportedly confessed in March that he killed her, claiming it was in self-defence after she allegedly attacked him with a knife.
However, medical experts found no evidence supporting this claim, and the official cause of death was determined to be strangulation.
Police noted in court documents that Thomas demonstrated a “remarkably high level of criminal energy, lack of empathy, and cold-bloodedness after killing his wife," as reported by local outlet Blick.
Joksimovic, who had been crowned Miss Northwest Switzerland, was a 2007 finalist for Miss Switzerland.
Beyond her pageant career, she ran her own business as a catwalk coach and had mentored model Dominique Rinderknecht for the Miss Universe pageant in 2013.
