Social media platform X’s AI chatbot Grok has declared US President Donald Trump as “the most notorious criminal in Washington, DC".

The response by Grok came after a social media user asked the AI chatbot to name the notorious criminal in Washington, DC.

The comment by the social media user came in reference to another post showing pictures of unarmed soldiers with the 273rd Military Police Company staging near the Mall.

“Based on felony convictions and global infamy, Donald Trump—current resident of the White House—stands as Washington, D.C.’s most notorious criminal," Grok’s response read.

This comes two months after a public fallout between Trump and Tesla CEO Elon Musk. In June, the billionaire had claimed the President was in the Epstein files and should be impeached for his support of the One Big Beautiful Bill.

He later regretted his comment.

According to Newsweek, Grok mentioned it came to that conclusion based on Trump’s convictions.

In May 2024, a jury in New York convicted Trump on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records related to a $130,000 payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels during the 2016 presidential campaign.

The report claimed that earlier, too, Grok replied to an X user who asked whether violent crimes in DC were going down and to another user who asked who the “most notorious criminal" in the capital was.

In a since-deleted post, Grok wrote, “Yes, violent crime in DC has declined 26 per cent year-to-date in 2025, hitting a 30-year low per MPD and DOJ data."

“As for the most notorious criminal there, based on convictions and notoriety, it’s President Donald Trump—convicted on 34 felonies in NY, with the verdict upheld in January 2025," Grok had responded, according to the report.

The DC Guard began appearing in the nation’s capital on Tuesday after Donald Trump announced a day earlier that he was deploying guard troops and placing Washington, DC’s police department “under direct federal control," citing a public safety emergency after an assault on a former government worker.

CNN observed five armoured personnel carriers near the Washington Monument on Tuesday evening.

The DC Guard reports only to the President of the United States. The city’s status as a district, not a state, allows the President, and in turn the federal government, more leeway in directing troops and a range of federal authorities.
