Danish PM Mette Frederiksen was given unsolicited advice on her looks – precisely her nose – by a cosmetic surgeon. And with a strong message on Instagram, where she shared a screenshot of their exchange on the platform, the 48-year-old Social Democrat said that she won't have any. "It's going to be a no, thanks to that offer," she wrote in the caption.
The surgeon, who she did not identify in her post, offered to help her "fix that little spot on your nose". However, Frederiksen clapped back, writing in response that she was happy with her body. "I really don't need a male plastic surgeon to have an opinion about it," she replied to the sender per the screenshot she shared on Instagram.
In a long caption, the Danish PM said she heard air sirens during her recent visit to Kyiv in Ukraine and that wars continue in Europe, but the very first message she got once back in Denmark "was this one".
"Come on. I can't count how many messages I've received over time about my appearance. Especially since I have ugly teeth and thin hair. The fact that I have an ugly 'wart' on my nose and good advice on getting a round of botox," she wrote on Instagram in Danish.
Frederiksen, who is Denmark's second woman Prime Minister and one of the longest-serving heads of government in Europe, made it clear that she is happy with her appearance and "live fine" especially now that she is pushing 50.
She also blasted the surgeon, saying that while one is free to write to her, she only hopes it would not be about her nose.
"And then I still get a little old-fashioned outraged. If you want to finally write to me (and you are very welcome to do so). Then I hope that one will use their talking time on something more important. Not on my nose," she wrote on the social media platform.
The Danish PM also encouraged women and everyone else to proudly embrace their "perfect imperfections". "And then today I am sending an extra loving thought to all of you, who needs to hear every day for the perfect imperfections we all walk around with," her caption read.
Currently, in her third term as Prime Minister, Frederiksen has led Denmark, a European Union and NATO member country, since 2019. She has also been vocal and maintained a firm stance against US President Donald Trump's ambitions of taking over Greenland, Denmark's semi-autonomous territory. The 48-year-old also remains fiercely supportive of Ukraine's fight against Russia's offensive.
