A BJP MLA and a Congress MLC nearly came to blows as a clash erupted between the two at a meeting of the Karnataka Development Programme in Bidar on Monday.

The two leaders – BJP’s Humnabad MLA Siddu Patil and Congress MLC Bhimarav Patil – got into an argument over a layout issue, which turned into a clash in the presence of state minister Eshwar Khandre.

The incident took place at the Bidar district panchayat hall, where the meeting of the Karnataka Development Programme (KDP) was underway.

Trouble started half an hour into the meeting when Siddu Patil raised the issue of a layout being developed in Chikkapet area of Humnabad town. As the discussion escalated, an argument followed with both leaders allegedly hurling abuses at each other.

The matter worsened when Bhimarav Patil allegedly attempted to physically attack Siddu at which point Bidar’s additional superintendent of police Chandrakant Poojari intervened and restrained him. Following the clash, the KDP meeting was briefly adjourned. Khandre was later able to resume the meeting after restoring order.
