Trump Dismisses Biden's 'Made Every Decision' Remark

US President Donald Trump on Monday dismissed former President Joe Biden’s autopen remarks where he defended his end-of-term clemency decisions. Reacting to Biden’s statement, Trump called autopen “one of the biggest scandals." This comes after Joe Biden clarified over the use of an autopen to sign official warrants.

Reacting to the statement, Trump said, “The autopen I think is maybe one of the biggest scandals that we’ve had in 50-100 years. This is a tremendous scandal… I guarantee you he knew nothing about what he was signing. I guarantee it."

Notably, thousands of individuals received sentence reductions during the final months of Biden’s presidency. Now, Republicans have launched investigations, suggesting Biden’s aides may have used autopen — an authorized mechanical signature tool — without authorization.

Former President issued a clarification over these claims and in a telephonic interview with The New York Times, he said that he personally approved all pardons and commutations. However, he did not physically sign the documents himself. “I made every single one of those. And — including the categories, when we set this up to begin with. And so — but I understand why Trump would think that, because obviously, I guess, he doesn’t focus much. Anyway, so — yes, I made every decision," Biden said.

He further clarified on the use of autopen and called it a matter of practicality as there were a lot of documents to sign. Rejecting the claims by Republicans, Biden said, “They’re liars. They know it. They know, for certain. I mean, this is — look, what they, they’ve had a pretty good thing going here. They’ve done so badly. They’ve lied so consistently about almost everything they’re doing. The best thing they can do is try to change the focus and focus on something else. And this is a — I think that’s what this is about."
